2 (842 x 555mmm). Etched title by G.B. Piranesi. Frontispiece and 25 (of 26) etched plates by G.B. and F. Piranesi, 5 double-page folding and 6 double-page. (Some light spotting, light damp staining slightly affecting image on plates of latter 2 works, clean marginal tears not affecting image on some plates, ''Veduta del prospetto principale della colonna Antonina'', Focillon 574 detached from guard but present, lacking ''Veduta del piedestallo dell'apoteosi di Antonio Pio e di Faustina'', Focillon 579.) French 19th century green morocco-backed boards, titled ''Colonne Trajan et Apotheose D'Antonin'' and numbered ''14'' in gilt on the spine (extremities of boards lightly worn, spine rubbed and torn at head with loss of a small section). Provenance: Arthur Dexter October 1852 (bookplate). Hind pp.86-87; Focillon 551-582; Wilton-Ely D. X.

In Trofeo o sia magnifica colonna ... fatta da Traiano plates III-XIV and XVIII-XXI are numbered in roman numerals, but in Colonna eretta in memoria dell'apoteosi di Antonino Pio, e Faustina sua moglie and Colonna Antonina the plates are not numbered, and Hind notes that in later states of all three works the plates were numbered with roman numerals. The numbering, combined with the presence of a French binding, the paper used, and the sharpness of the impressions, all suggest that this copy was part of a early collected edition probably published in the years between the first Paris edition of 1800 and the first Didot-Firmin edition of 1835.
