2 parts in one volume. 4 (226 x 160mm). Letterpress title with woodcut printer's device to each part, sectional titles. 69 engraved double-page maps, woodcut text illustrations, head- and tail-pieces and initials. (A few leaves cropped with slight loss of headline, some gatherings a little stained, spotted or browned, slight marginal worming on first 6 leaves, map-sheets reinforced at inner margins on versos, a few repaired at fold.) Modern vellum with earlier gilt leather lettering-piece, red and blue mottled edges. Provenance: some early annotations, mostly marginal; pencil sketch on recto of final blank leaf.

Fourth edition, first issue with both part titles dated 1598, of Ruscelli's translation, the first enlarged and edited by Rosaccio. The plates have been re-worked and 5 new maps added: ''Europa'', ''Hungaria et Transilvania'', ''Africa'', ''Asia'', and ''America''. Cf.
