Printed warrant, signed in ink 'Winston S. Churchill' as the Secretary of State for Air, appointing Charles William Durman to the position of Warrant Officer in the Royal Air Force as from 26 September 1919, dated 1 January 1920, with impressed Air Ministry seal (spotting).

Lot Essay

Charles Durman was an air photographer in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I, photographing enemy aircraft behind the lines in France and Belgium. He later became chief instructor at the Royal Flying Corps School of Photography at Farnborough.
