A quarto album containing approximately 150 cut signatures and autograph letters, loose and laid down, by a variety of 19th century personalities, bound in blue calf, including
One-page autograph letter, signed 'Joseph Paxton', from 7 Pall Mall East, London S.W., July 26th [18]64, 8, to Mrs Johnson, a letter of introduction for Charles Barry to presumably the housekeeper at Chatsworth 'I shall be obliged by your showing him and his party every attention'.
One-page autograph letter, signed 'Palmerston', from the War Office, 18th February 1816, 4, to Colonel Cook, regarding the pay of a Yorkshire militiaman.
Various other signatures and letters by the nobility, bishops and clergy, statesmen such as John Bright and Herbert Gladstone, Lydia Becker (suffragette), Fanny Stirling, John Tyndall, the composer Charles Gounod, artists Edward Poynter, Luke Fildes and various others including Robert Stephenson, George Stephenson, James Paget, cut signature and impressed seal of Queen Victoria; and a small cabinet photograph of the philanthropist George Peabody, seated at a writing desk, signed and dated 'George Peabody 1866' by Mayall of London.
