A collection of nine signed autograph letters and signed notes from a variety of 19th century artists, including
Autograph letter, signed 'J. Ruskin', 17th March [18]56, 2pp, 8, to Miss Gaskell, regarding drawing lessons 'I think you had better take a lesson or two from a person whom I have trained to be a drawing master under me', and arranging an appointment (slight staining at edges).
Autograph letter, signed 'Thos Lawrence', 'Sunday Noon', 3pp, 8, to 'My Lord' [Holland], being most happy to receive Lord and Lady Holland tomorrow but regrets that he is unable to accept their invitation as he is out of town (slight staining).
One-page autograph note, from 'Phiz', 68 Warren Street, Fitzroy Square, 8, to an unknown recipient, regarding illustrations 'as soon as you have settled which you will adopt I will proceed without delay', illustrated with a cartoon of the artist (mounted on blue paper, creased on folds, corners cut).
Cut signature, signed 'Very truly yours/J. Everett Millais'.
