Three English delft dated 'Merry Man' plates
probably Bristol, numbered and inscribed (1)/What is a/Merry Man/1726, (4)/With Wine &/Merry Jests/1726 and (5)/But if his/Wife do Frown/1726, each within a roundel issuing leaves, flowerheads and scrolls, the borders painted with stylised insects within roundels between leaves, scrolls and pendant husks, each with a two dash mark, 1726 (the first with minor chips and restoration, the others broken and restored) -- 22cm. diam.
