with golden mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced snout, brown stitched nose and mouth, swivel head, long jointed shaped limbs, felt pads and button in left ear --19in. (48cm.) tall, circa 1905 (small hole to lower right arm, overall wear to mohair)

Lot Essay

Strunz, clearly influenced by Steiff, produced copies of the Steiff products adopting the similar trade mark of a button in the left ear. Steiff took legal action against the Company and patented the button in teh left ear as their own trade mark.
