Lot Essay

Paul Sandby moved to 4 St. George's Row, Bayswater in 1772 (later known as 23 Hyde Park Place) and painted many watercolours of the environs, then a semi-rural suburb of London.

Another watercolour of the Entrance to Kensington Gardens by Paul Sandby is in the Nottingham Castle Museum bequeathed by Lady F.E.J. Rich.
