This view shows Westminster School's 'Up School' gateway. Beyond the gateway, the Palace of Westminster's Victoria Tower is shown under construction. The new Parliament buildings were completed in 1860 when the roof of the Victoria Tower was finished.
Pyne was the son of the artist W.H. Pyne (1769-1843) and son-in-law of John Varley, O.W.S. (1778-1842).
