Lot Essay

Barracks were first built in Knightsbridge for the Horse Guards at the end of the 18th century and were enlarged in 1857. These buildings were replaced by those depicted here, designed by T.H. Wyatt. They were demolished in 1966 and replaced by the current barracks, with the
270 ft. high accommodation block designed by Sir Basil Spence.
