The Port of London shows the Upper Pool (please see the following lot).

The topography of The Thames at London Bridge consists of New London Bridge, crowded with traffic; the Adelaide Hotel; and St Magnus the Martyr. On the river we see lighters, barges, and a paddle steamer. A sailing barge has lowered its sail in order to shoot the bridge. In the centre is a stackie. Stackies were very much a feature of the river in the 19th century and the equivalent of today's petrol tankers, bringing to the metropolis the fuel that was necessary to feed the horses and keep London moving.
