Lot Essay

Although a Frenchman by birth Paul Maze settled in England. Renowned for his great charm, wit and intelligence, he was a popular house guest and his friends and patrons included the Rockefellers and Sir Winston Churchill. He enjoyed painting typically English scenes including regattas, racecourses and military and ceremonical occasions.
