Lot Essay

Gene Cernan was the commander of the Apollo 17 mission, which accomplished the sixth and last manned moon landing of the Apollo Program on 11 December 1972. He became the eleventh human to set foot on, and the last human to leave, the surface of the moon. His footprints will be the last made on the lunar surface in the twentieth century.
