A decorative late 20th-Century armillary sphere
unsigned, the 2-inch (5cm.) diameter terrestrial globe at the centre made up of twelve colour copied gores and two polar calottes after those of L. Spies, Strasbourg, 1830, in the centre of a brass armillary with polar, tropic and equatorial rings, two meridian circles, the movable ecliptic band stamped with figures for the houses of the Zodiac, enclosed by a stamped meridian circle supported by a bronze horizon ring held aloft by a naked figure of kneeling Atlas on a square rosso lanquedoc plinth base -- 20in. (52.1cm.) high
