A late 20th-Century mechanical orrery after Thomas Wright, the 2-inch (5cm.) diameter terrestrial globe made up of twelve hand-coloured printed gores (signs of restoration) on a geared mechanism with black and white painted moonball revolving around, on circular platform engraved with the signs of the Zodiac, a non-revolving brass ring around the mechanism engraved with the days of the month, on blue-painted base-plate with simple stars in gilt, brass sunball and two ivorine planetballs, the whole covered in brass structure with polar, tropic and half an equatorial band, engraved brass horizon ring graduated in days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, supported by twelve brass baluster pillars atop twelve-sided mahogany casing for gearing mechanism, the mechanism turned by brass and ivorine crank handle at the side of the casing, on six bun feet, brass maker's plaque affixed to the underside -- 12in. (32.4cm.) high
