A 14-inch (35.5cm.) diameter celestial table globe made up of two sets of twelve colour printed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the solstitial and equinoctial colures ungraduated, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the constellations shown in blue outline in the form of mythical beasts and figures and scientific instruments and labelled in Latin, some with a hand-coloured pale beige border, the stars shown to several orders of magnitude and connected within the constellations by hand-coloured red dotted lines, labelled with Greek and Roman characters (several large but neatly repaired cracks and dents, repairs to the poles, some areas of rubbing and discolouration), with stamped brass hour dial and meridian circle, the octagonal oak horizon with decorative hand-coloured engraved paper ring with pictorial representations for the houses of the Zodiac, and decorative wind figures at the corners, also graduated in degrees and days of the month and showing wind directions (some rubbing), raised on four curved quadrant supports to short baluster turned oak column and circular plinth base on three bun feet -- 21in.
