A 10-inch (25.4cm.) diameter terrestrial globe made up of two sets of twelve chromolithographed paper gores joined at the poles, with applied equatorial band graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month, the equinoctial colure graduated in degrees, the oceans coloured black with white print, and showing ocean currents, steamship routes with ports of arrival and departure and journey length in nautical miles, Zeppelin route from Rio de Janiero to Friedrichshafen, radio broadcasting stations, an analemma, the International Dateline, and a legend for symbols with a note reading Spellings according to Decisions of the U.S. Geographic Board, the continents with nation states variously coloured in yellow, green, grey and pink and showing rivers, mountains, swamps, canals, railway lines, caravan routes, cities according to population and the Great Wall of China, the Arctic with a note NORTH POLE REACHED: Peary by sled April 6, 1909 Byrd by plane May 9, 1926 Amundsen by airship May 12, 1926, Greenland with note Ice of great thickness from the glacial period covers the interior of Greenland which has an average elevation of 7000ft, the Antarctic with southern Magnetic Pole, antipodes of northern Magnetic Pole and a note reading SOUTH POLE REACHED: Amundsen by sled Dec. 14, 1911, Scott by sled Jan. 18, 1912 Byrd by plane Nov. 28, 1929 (some old surface abrasions), with tin hour dial graduated 1-12 twice (some paint loss) raised on a stylised moulded aluminium base in the shape of a horizontal anchor -- 12in.
