A Collection of Naval Officer's Uniform
A large group of KC period uniform of the Royal Navy, as follows: a fine Full Dress Coatee by GIEVE MATTHEWS & SEAGROVE, label inscribed D.K. DOWDING 30/1/12, with white kerseymere lining to skirts and Captain's badges of rank; a pair of trousers with gold lace stripes; a fitted tin box by same maker, containing a cocked hat with double bullion loop and a pair of epaulettes with embroidered devices for a Captain (one lacking Crown); a good frock coat, with label inscribed WKD Dowding 1929, with five buttons each side in front and Captain's rings on sleeves; a similar frock coat dated 1936, with four buttons each side in front, also with Captain's rings on sleeves; another fitted tin containing a cocked hat with double bullion loop (incorrectly fitted) and a pair of epaulettes bearing Anchors in silver embroidery; a good greatcoat by GIEVES, with label inscribed AR RUSHMORE 1953, with KC buttons and Lieutenant-Commander's shoulder-boards; two pairs of Captain's blue shoulder-boards for tropical uniform, plus three assorted single boards; a blue serge monkey-jacket (sleeve lace removed) and three blue evening waistcoats (two with KC buttons, the other with QEC buttons), in a tin trunk.
