The Isipingo Mounted Rifles
Raised near Durban in 1879, and commanded by Captain D. Stainbank, the I.M.R. served for a short time on the Zululand Frontier prior to being amalgamated with the Alexandra Mounted Rifles. Armed with Swinburne-Henry carbines, and sporting uniforms of blue with scarlet facings, the unit was issued with just 40 Medals, 39 of them without clasp.
