Flight Lieutenant Hector James Redvers Cox was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for services in North Russia. Commissioned as a Pilot Officer in the R.A.F.V.R. in October 1939, he served in the Administrative and Special Duties Branch until the end of hostilities, gaining advancement to (War Substantive) Flight Lieutenant in September 1944.
