Chief Technician Thomas Edward Beale, B.E.M., first entered the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Apprentice in September 1926 and saw pre-War active service in Northern Kurdistan and on the North West Frontier as an L.A.C. Rigger. In the latter operations he served with No. 60 (Bomber) Squadron at Kohat between November 1933 and April 1936. Advanced to Flight Sergeant in September 1942, he witnessed further active service in the Middle East, and by the time of leaving the Service in August 1964 had qualified for the L.S. and G.C. Medal with Bar and attained the rank of Chief Technician.
