M.C. London Gazette 10.12.1919 'For conspicuous gallantry and dash at La Longueville on 7 November 1918. He led a patrol in the face of determined resistance by night, and succeeded in clearing the village and capturing a prisoner from whom most useful information was obtained. Throughout the advance the following day he displayed the greatest determination'.
Lieutenant David Miller, M.C., was commissioned from the ranks of the Scots Guards in May 1918, and joined the 1st Battalion west of Mauberge, France in October of the same year. He won his M.C. in the following month in the battle for the Sambre during the final Allied push in Picardy.
Chief Technician Finlay Hamilton "Dusty" Miller, the son of Lieutenant David Miller, M.C., served as an Aircraft Engineer during the 1939-45 War, his postings including R.A.F. Duxford, Italy and latterly the Occupied Zone (Vienna Garrison). He retired from the R.A.F. in April 1966 and worked for British Aerospace.
