D.C.M. London Gazette 10.1.1920 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 8.10.1918, North-East of Brancourt. When the Squadron came under enfilade fire from a machine-gun in a farm, he succeeded in killing or capturing the entire garrison, although there was a strong barricade round the position. His determination in overcoming obstacles undoubtedly saved the Squadron from severe casualties'.
