(Minor marginal worming affecting a few leaves, marginal dampstaining causing loss in final gatherings, occasionally affecting page number, ink-spotting on some leaves, small marginal holes on title and a few leaves, that on title repaired, title supplied from another copy, 1/3-1/7 and IiI3-7 lacking, 1/2, 1/8 and IiI2 remargined.) (Light marginal dampstaining affecting some gatherings, some leaves a little browned, some worming, affecting text on some leaves, lacking Z8.) 19th-century calf-backed boards gilt, top edge gilt (extremities lightly rubbed, short split on upper joint reinforced with tape). Provenance: extensive early notes in Greek in three hands on flyleaves and throughout the volume, the names of Erasmus, Bebel and Isingrinius scrupulously deleted from the title, Erasmus's preface and Isingrinius's device.
