A NEW YORK ENGRAVED COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER REVOLVER, SERIAL No. 74481 for 1882
Single line address barrel mounted with cupro-nickel fore-sight blade (replaced), three line patent date marked frame, trigger guard marked 44 C.F. on the forward left side. Profusely engraved throughout in bold scrolls, stars, zig-zags and intertwining lines, with faint traces of original nickel plating in protected areas, ivory grips each side bearing the incised images of a nude woman with flowing hair wearing a cape and holding a whip and a nude man (angel?) with trumpet "flying" over a skeleton that appears to rising from the grave.
4.7/8 inch barrel (shortened)
Silvery-grey patina overall, 1 original nickel plate remains in protected areas, some deep staining on cylinder and recoil shield, barrel shortened and fore-sight replaced as noted, small chip to ivory grip on right side, mechanically very good.
