A FINE 19TH CENTURY MILITARY KILIJ FOR AN OFFICER OF RANK
The greatly curved blade, embellished with gold-inlaid marks on right side, and gold embellishments along spine, finely "watered" damascus pattern (evident though somewhat faint), mounted with a gilt Mamaluke type hilt decorated with a crossed cannon/sword motif, set with ivory grip scales (left panel with chip at pommel, left panel with crack), sword knot and hanger present. With its heavy brass scabbard.
