An exceptional pair of women's boots, this type with minimal beadwork, German silver buttons and earth paints of red and yellow was often worn in conjunction with trade cloth dresses. Examples of this type of boot are shown in the ledger drawings of Arrow, Cowdrey, 1999, Table of Contents page, and Plate 150. A comparable pair are also in the Denver Art Museum collection published in Conn, 1982.
