TWO HOPI POLYCHROME WOOD KACHINA DOLLS
The first representing Angwusnasomtaka or Tuma, with both legs bent at knees, arms extending outward, painted overall with white pigment, wearing a black kilt, arm bands and leg bands, a white cape and leather belt with metal conchas, green case mask decorated with inverted triangular motifs in black and white with feather wings on the side, fur ruff, holding a ladder and a yucca whip in the other, signed on the base "Crow Mother, J. Creek"; the second representing Wuyak-kuita in dancing position with both legs bent at knees, arms extending outward, painted overall with areas of black accented with white spots, wearing hide kilt with snake motif, leather arm bands and leggings, shell wrist bands and accents on kilt, case mask black with bulbous eyes, decorated with snake motif, bearing teeth with black beard, horns on side, fur ruff, accented with feathers
