Very tightly woven in cream, black, grey and dark brown against a light brown ground, decorated with X motif composed of a central cross motif, stepped elements enclosing star motifs, enclosed by a band of hooked elements, border composed of terraced elements

Provenance
Belonged to the Estate of William Fisher, of the Fisher Body Company, which later became General Motors. According to the family history, the weaving was acquired by 1911.

Lot Essay

The layout of this textile combines design motifs and layout of J.B. Moore originated textiles, with early, transitional Two Grey Hills styles.
