THREE ZUNI POLYCHROME JARS
The first, with rounded base and sides tapering to neck, flaring rim, painted in red and brown over a creamy white slip, decorated with a band of terraced diamonds enclosing bird motifs, negative space hatched, surmounted by a band below the rim of terraced diamonds enclosing scrolling motifs, negative space hatched; the second with rounded base and shoulders, painted in red and brown on a light brown slip, decorated with two squatting frogs modelled in relief, each with speckled bodies alternating with bird motifs; the third with small indented base and of compressed form, painted red and brown against a creamy white slip, decorated with a band of alternating hatched I motifs and bisected hourglass designs with scalloped edges, surmounted by solid band, below rim a segmented band enclosing scalloped designs
