"Three methods of transportation profoundly influenced and changed the Navajo way of life: the horse introduced to the Southwest in the sixteenth century, the railroad in the nineteenth century, and cars and trucks in the twentieth century. Horses and cars gave the Indians personal mobility...It made the Southwest accessible to travelers and tourists and thus enormously expanded the market for one of their most important products...weavings (Campbell and Kopp, 1991, p. 55)."
