A SANTO DOMINGO PAINTED MUSLIN SHIELD
Of flat circular form, constructed of wood center and covered with muslin secured with black thread at back, trimmed in red cloth, painted in red, black, blue and yellow, decorated with a central crescent shape, star motif and two circular elements with extending lightning motifs

Provenance
This shield was collected at the 1907 Santo Domingo Plaza Dance in New Mexico by New Mexico Governor Prince. Sold to Fred Harvey Route 66 Trading Post in 1910. Old "Not for Sale" tag with Fred Harvey seal accompanies this lot. The shield was eventually sold at a Harvey and Company auction in 1962.
