Lot Essay

Cf. For a similar pair see Penney, 1992, p. 208, no. 133.

Made in the older style with tab bottoms and weaseltail fringes with yarn and feathers this pair also contains the "Sui Tapiks", or Underwater People painted in lignite brown. These Weaseltail Leggings were originally part of the Weaseltail Suits whose origins are discussed in Lot 312. Often the leggings and shirt were separated and it appears more shirts than leggings survived to the present day.
