LINCOLN, Abraham, President. Engraved document signed ("Abraham Lincoln") as President, countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton, Washington, D.C., 4 March 1862. 1 page, folio, 490 x 395mm. (19 x 13 in.), ON FINE PARCHMENT, complete blue paper seal of the United States at left, bold heading at top: "The President of the United States of America," beneath which an American Eagle and the "E Pluribus Unum" motto fly above billowing clouds, at bottom a large vignette of crossed flags, cannons and other military paraphernalia, accomplished in manuscript, in good condition. President Lincoln and Secretary Stanton appoint Joseph P. Farley Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Department.
