Second quarter of the 17th Century, probably German
With slender double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, rectangular ricasso with two marks on each face, reblued steel hilt comprising guard with diagonally recurved quillons swelling at the tips, two side-rings each framing an upturned scallop-shaped shell linked to the tips by slender arms, slender knuckle-guard (repaired), fig-shaped fluted pommel, and wire-bound wooden grip
