The first 12th/13th Century, the second probably 9th/10th Century
Each in excavated condition, the first with broad tapering double-edged blade with wide central fuller inlaid with a gold cross on one face and a silver-inlaid inscription on the other, iron hilt comprising short straight quillons of square section, and Brazil-nut pommel; the second with single-edged blade double-edged at the point, and short cross with rounded tips
