Mid-19th Century, probably Hungarian
With strongly curved blade, 'Mameluke' hilt with long recurved white metal quillons with rounded ends, and pistol-grip with horn scales sparsely carved with foliage in relief, with a white metal strip between and silver filigree bosses on each side of the pommel, and original wooden scabbard covered with blue velvet (slightly damaged) with deep white metal chape and central and mouth lockets carrying suspension rings, the white metal parts decorated in relief with rococo scrollwork amid foliage and set throughout with semi-precious stones, paste and mother-of-pearl "gems" in collets, three on the scabbard centering on enamelled flowers: in wooden velvet-lined storage-case covered with leather (rubbed)
