The first with rifled sighted barrel stamped on the breech 'Burnside Patent Model of 1864', flip-up back-sight graduated to 500 yards, back-action lock stamped 'Burnside Rifle Co, Providence=R.I.', walnut half-stock stamped with government inspector's mark (chipped, with bruises and graffito), regulation iron mounts, sling swivel, and saddle-bar with ring; the second with sighted barrel stamped 'New Model 1863', back-action lock stamped 'Sharps' Pat Oct 5th 1852.' (frame repaired), and walnut stock (butt repaired, well worn and cleaned overall)
