A 16-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun, And An 88-Bore Air Rifle
The first by Durs Egg, London, circa 1800, the second by George Holborn, circa 1825
The first with rebrowned two-stage barrel (slightly shortened) with chiselled girdle, gold signature, breech line and vent, all re-inlaid, associated lock, walnut half-stock, chequered grip, gold escutcheon, engraved iron mounts including scrolled trigger-guard, and associated wooden ramrod (well worn, refurbished throughout), London proof marks; the second with tapering multigroove rifled sighted barrel with gold line at the breech, engraved tang, signed flat bevelled lock with engraved stepped tail and cocking-lever, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, silver escutcheon, iron mounts including trigger-guard with later (?) spur, copper spherical reservoir, and original brass-tipped wooden ramrod (pitted and worn)
