With two-stage twist barrel, the breech section octagonal then polygonal, patent breech with gold line, gold-lined maker's stamp, and gold-lined touch-hole, engraved tang, stepped bevelled lock with roller and rainproof pan, gold-lined maker's stamp, later 'French' cock (cracked, with later jaw-screw), walnut half-stock (an old replacement), iron mounts including butt-plate and trigger-guard both engraved with a dog and game birds in flight (engraving refreshed on the butt-plate), trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon engraved with initials, silver fore-end cap and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and later ramrod (rib partly detached), London proof marks
