With browned twist barrels (some pitting and loss of colour) signed on the rib and with gold-lined touch-holes, silver fore-sights, and an engraved band to the rear of each breech, engraved grooved tangs, signed case-hardened bevelled locks each with engraved stepped tail and blued steel-spring, figured walnut half-stocks, swelling flat-sided butts each inset with an engraved silver star on the pommel, engraved blued iron trigger-guards each with pineapple finial, dark horn ramrod-entries, horn-tipped ramrods, one with worm, and much original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case, with a brush, wooden rod, and later Sykes flask (compartment lids replaced), the lid with trade label for circa 1797-1838, and flush-fitting carrying handle, London proof marks
