A ROMAN BRONZE OIL LAMP
circa late 1st century a.d.
In the form of a left foot wearing an elaborate sandal (trochas), the big toe resting on the horn-shaped and acanthus nozzle, a suspension loop at the front of the ankle, the hinged oval lid with a nesting bird, a handle at the back of the heel with a knobbed foliate thumbrest
