A SABEAN BRONZE PLAQUE
circa 2nd-1st century b.c.
The square plaque with an eight line raised relief inscription in Qatabanean, within a raised plain border, dedicated to the god dhu-Samawi, the penitential text reading, "Saold, son of the clan of Nasrum, servant of Abath, the Habasha-nite, confessed to dhu-Samawi in Yaghraw, because...he washed himself in it [the well], and because he raped the bondwoman of his lord in a part of the temple when she was menstruating. May Saold avoid in the future to commit offenses in the sanctuary of dhu-Samawi"
