THE RARE PUBLISHER'S PROSPECTUS OR SALESMAN'S DUMMY FOR THE FIRST AMERICAN EDITION (which followed the English edition by five days), consisting of preliminary leaves, selections from the text, representative illustrations, publisher's advertisements, sheets at end for subscribers' names and orders, and the four binding samples (backstrips: morocco, two styles of calf, and cloth -- this last sample showing a gilt design which was changed in the published edition) mounted on inside covers. Laid in: "Hints to Canvassers," broadside (277 x 195 mm), giving tips and directions to salesmen using this prospectus. With the small label of H.F.
