FIRST EDITION of Abrabanel's commentary on the Latter Prophets. The usual attribution of this edition to Pesaro is incorrect. M. Marx states that the book was printed "on the road [from Ottonamare to Rimini]... and consequently it was 'in the land of Italy' and not in Pesaro... [Gershom] did not put into effect his intention to go to Chieti, the capital of the province of Abruzzi, either because the laws concerning the Jews were enforced more strictly, or because the place was not sufficiently attractive. After the 3rd of June 1520, we find Rimini regularly named as the place of Gershom's activity, until finally in 1527, he leaves Italy" (Gershom Soncino's Wanderyears in Italy, 1498-1527 (Cincinnati 1969).
