"EXTRAORDINARY THINGS OUT IN THE GULF"

"I hope you're not worse. It's a damned shame to be ill. Send Bumby [his son] home any time in the afternoon or early evening or whenever he becomes too much of a nuisance...The stories [for Winner Take Nothing] are what I'm going over -- so find I can't send them -- will get them copied out and do it though -- They'd only make you feel sicker (iller in English or more ill) anyway...If it clears this afternoon may go out for an hour or so. It is awfully rough but there are lots of fish -- hooked one in the back yesterday at base of his fins and he did very extraordinary things for 22 minutes until the hook pulled out...Poor old Jane. Better get well -- Extraordinary things out in the gulf."
