[HEMINGWAY, Ernest]. Hemingway's off-white leather vest worn by him in Spain during "the dangerous summer" of 1959; the vest similar to the salmon-colored one in lot 203, with zipper front, breast pocket with horn button, and lower front pocket (open and divided); some damage to bottom left edge, very soiled, some stains, and a few small holes. With 3 black-and-white photographs by Cano, a Madrid-based photographer, each 120 x 180 mm, each signed on front by Cano and with his stamp on verso: the first pictures Hemingway in this vest talking with Mary Hemingway at an outside table at the Bar Choko in Pamplona; the second, presumably the same setting, again shows Hemingway in the same clothes sitting with Bill Davis and Valerie Danby-Smith (a variant of this photograph is illustrated in Michael Reynolds' Hemingway: The Final Years, New York: Norton, 1999, before p. 201); the third shows Hemingway with Bill Davis in a crowd, the vest folded, his moccasins visible. -- [HEMING
