Oblong, with canted corners, the sides and base with translucent royal blue enamel on engine-turned ground semé with green dots on a black field, within borders of polychrome enamel design, each corner a finely chased and enamelled panel depicting either a quiver of arrows or an amphora, the hinged cover with enamelled polychrome border surrounding a finely painted enamel plaque titled "The Passage du Pont D'Arcole", marked on interior and cover--3½in. (9cm.) long
