The arms are those of Menjot de Dammartin of Brie (see Pierre-Paul Dubuisson, Armorial des Principales Maisons et familles du Royanne, Paris, 1757, p. 239). They were created barons by Louis XVIII in 1819.

EARLY 18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY BRETON
Circular, on spreading foot with applied foliate scroll and bead handles, engraved on side with coat-of-arms, helm and crest within foliate scrolls, marked on side with warden's mark crowned ?M, an unidentified mark and maker's mark GG, fleur-de-lys, pellets and crown, and on foot with a slightly different version of the maker's mark with the fleur-de-lys replaced by a cross--length over handles 3 1/2in. (8.9cm.)
