A PAIR OF FRENCH SILVER TUREENS AND COVERS
MAKER'S MARK OF JEAN-BAPTISTE-CLAUDE ODIOT, PARIS, 1819-1838

Circular on square pedestal base raised on four paw and scroll feet and applied with sphinx and anthemion, the stem with stiff leaf decoration, the bowl with similar leaf rim and bifurcating snake handles issuing from acanthus leaves, the covers with a bud form finial issuing from a stiff leaf and floral calyx, the base and covers engraved with a coat-of-arms and motto surmounted by two crests, lacking liners, fully marked, the bases also stamped J.Bte.Cde.ODIOT and with Austrian import marks for 1872-1901--length over handles 15in.
